NWFRC Annex Release Boundary
Florida Department of Corrections materials identify the Annex separately from NWFRC Main, even though current official sources place both at 4455 Sam Mitchell Drive in Chipley. That separate identity supports a distinct facility record. It does not support invented differences in discharge policy. The statewide FDC databases, release offices, and public-record rules control both units.
The first task is to decide whether the person left the Annex or left FDC custody. A population record showing Main or another institution means only the facility changed. A release-information detail is the proper source for the state event. If a supervised-population detail also appears, prison custody ended but community supervision continues.
Search NWFRC Annex Release Records
Use the FDC all-database offender search for an initial sweep. It covers Inmate Population, Inmate Releases, Supervised Population, Absconder/Fugitive, and outstanding escapes. A six-character DC number, either all digits or one letter followed by five digits, sharply reduces same-name confusion. Name searches should be checked with aliases because the committed name may differ from the name a family member knows.
- Enter the DC number, or search by first and last name with aliases enabled.
- Open each plausible detail and match birth date, aliases, photograph, offense history, and county.
- Read Inmate Population first. A new institution means FDC custody continues.
- Open Inmate Release Information and check the event date, type, and incarceration history.
- Repeat the identity search in Supervised Population to see whether state oversight followed prison.
FDC's release database is updated nightly. Full population and supervision data refresh weekly, with location and specified date changes updated nightly. Keep the displayed current-as-of marker when recording a result. The Annex facility field may change before a person appears in a completed release detail.
A county jail roster cannot answer these questions. WCSO covers county custody. The NWFRC Main release route uses the same state systems but addresses the separately identified Main Unit.
Read NWFRC Annex Discharge Details
The dedicated FDC Inmate Release Information Search accepts last name, first name, DC number, aliases, and photo controls. Its scope includes people who have been released or are scheduled for release. For that reason, a result must be read in context. The event shown may be completed, future, or tied to an older incarceration term.

Review every incarceration-history row. A prior release may appear next to a later sentence. Also search Supervised Population with the same DC number. A match there means the person may have left prison but has not necessarily reached the end of FDC supervision.

Request NWFRC Annex Records
When the public display is not enough, use FDC public records. State the committed name, DC number, known Annex period, and the precise existing admission, transfer, classification, or release record wanted. A tight request makes it easier for the custodian to identify the right material and reduces the risk of receiving a different incarceration episode.

FDC, not WCSO, owns the Annex release record. A Washington County court file may explain the local conviction that led to prison, but it will not replace the department's transfer and discharge history.
NWFRC Annex and Main Transfers
Main and Annex are distinct facility names within the Chipley complex. A person can move between them as part of FDC operations. Official research did not establish a separate Annex release rule, separate offender database, or county-run process. Applying such a distinction would be inaccurate.
Follow the person, not a fixed facility label. If Population shows Main, another reception center, or a permanent institution, confinement continues. If Release Information shows a completed date and type, check for Supervised Population. If neither route resolves the movement, contact Admission and Release with the DC number and the last known Annex date.

That sequence matters in Washington County because both units share the same current street address. A location that seems almost unchanged can hide an important shift in the legal custody record.
NWFRC Annex Custody History
The Annex belongs to a major state reception complex inside Washington County. This creates a local custody pattern not found in counties that have only a sheriff jail. A defendant can leave Washington County Jail for FDC, arrive at the nearby complex, and remain in the county while no longer being a county detainee.
The current WCSO roster cannot show the later state phase. When the destination is uncertain, request the county exit record through the WCSO records channel and check the sentence in the Washington County court portal. Those local sources establish how county custody ended and why FDC took control. They do not replace the Annex population and release records.

The custody trail may begin with a WCSO transfer entry and then continue in FDC Population. Later, Inmate Release preserves the state event, while Supervised Population may show the next phase. Geographic proximity never replaces that agency-by-agency trail.
NWFRC Annex Release Date Changes
An incarcerated person's public record can show FDC's current release-date estimate. The governing statute calls the gain-time calculation a tentative release date. It can change through court-awarded jail credit, gain-time earned or forfeited, a new or corrected sentence, escape time, a minimum mandatory term, a detainer, or another authorized adjustment.
A projection does not prove the person left the Annex or FDC. Read it with the current location and current-as-of marker. Once the event occurs, check the dedicated release detail. That record's completed Release Date and incarceration history are the proper retrospective evidence.

Can Annex staff promise the projected day? The live FDC field is an estimate, not a guarantee. Admission and Release handles disputed computations and official date questions.
NWFRC Annex Post-Release Status
Leaving prison and ending state control are not always the same event. The FDC Supervised Population Search can display supervision status, type, office, start date, and termination date. Read the listed current office rather than inferring it from the Annex or from Washington County.
Parole, probation, and conditional release have different legal bases. In plain terms, each can require the person to follow conditions outside prison. A supervision termination date is also subject to the record's update cycle. When a supervision result and release detail share the same DC number, the two records describe different phases of one state history. The release detail establishes the end of the prison-custody phase. The supervision detail identifies the type, status, office, and dates of oversight outside the institution. Keep both records when the question is whether the person left the Annex and whether state control still continues.
